Position:  Consumer Compliance Specialist (Monitoring)

 

Organizational:  This position reports to the Chief Compliance Officer.

YOUR IMPACT 

Are you passionate about consumer lending and compliance?  We’re looking for a compliance monitoring associate to join our consumer legal and compliance team.  As the successful candidate, you will focus on performing a series of reviews for policy adherence and reporting on any findings of such reviews with management. This position is a member of the Legal and Compliance Department.

OUR IMPACT 

Our Legal and Compliance team partners with all functional areas of the consumer lending business to advise on business strategy, develop compliant processes within the business, implement compliance processes, systems, and digital tools for identifying, measuring, and mitigating risk and report on the status of such risk.  From day one you will be an important part of building a robust compliance management system for our consumer lending program. 

Duties & Responsibilities

HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL 

  • Support execution of our compliance management system (“CMS”) for consumer lending policies, procedures, and processes, focusing on consumer-facing processes
  • Execution of defined monitoring projects as prescribed in the Legal and Compliance annual monitoring plan.
  • Reviews, appraises, and monitors internal controls around key business processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Perform periodic reviews of business processes, including agent performance within functional business units, to determine effectiveness of internal controls and procedures.
  • Identify compliance risks associated with business processes and practices.
  • Work closely with various business partners to ensure functional business units are calibrated to compliance requirements.
  • Prepare summary or results for reporting to management in Legal and Compliance and the business functions.
  • Effectively communicates, both verbally and in writing, monitoring results, including control weaknesses and remediation plans
  • Present on compliance program to senior management, committees and regulators.

Required Skills/Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of compliance, operations, or legal experience in financial services
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent military experience
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state consumer lending laws and regulations as well as industry association standards, including, among others, Truth in Lending Act (Reg Z), Equal Credit Opportunity Act (Reg B), Fair Credit Reporting Act (Reg V), UDAAP, Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (Reg P), and the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act
  • Must be self-directed, organized, positive, driven, detail-oriented, and effective in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Ability to quickly grasp new complex concepts and regulations.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for process improvements.
  • Ability to work independently and be team-oriented.
  • Strong work ethic

 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience advising on servicing, origination or marketing of consumer loan products.
  • JD or CRCM certification a plus
  • Minimum three years of experience, with a strong understanding of commercial focused financial businesses
