Description

The Compliance Monitoring and Testing team performs monitoring and testing activities as an integral part of the Compliance Management System (CMS). The team plays a significant role in Navy Federal’s CMS to validate the controls used in the operational practices are functioning as intended and adheres with internal policies and procedures, federal and state laws, regulations, and regulatory expectations. We also develop and maintain compliance key risk indicators and management metrics to monitor compliance risk. Additionally, the team looks to develop automated solutions or tools for monitoring and testing activities. 

The Summer Associate will support the compliance monitoring and testing efforts, including metric development and automation. Potential project(s), dependent on availability, may include:

  • Supporting the team by performing monitoring activities such as analyzing business unit’s compliance testing efforts, developing schedules, and reporting
  • Supporting testing activities such as performing research to develop test scopes, preparing test scripts, performing testing, and validating results
  • Analyzing information to develop compliance key risk indicators and management metrics
  • Performing analysis to identify automation opportunities for monitoring and testing efforts

The Summer Associate Program is a 12-week internship program beginning in May 2025 and ending in August 2025. Students will work on impactful projects and meaningful work during their internship. To qualify for this position, applicants must be currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university and have an anticipated graduation date of December 2025 or later.



Responsibilities
  • Research, analyze, and interpret compliance laws and regulations applicable to business unit’s compliance testing efforts to support their compliance testing activities
  • Develop inventory of testing scripts for compliance testing
  • Conduct testing activities for the assigned testing topics
  • Perform analysis of applicable legal and regulatory requirements to create an inventory of the compliance requirements that could be automated and/or used to develop compliance metrics 
  • Develop, monitor, and administer compliance activities including systems and/or processes for monitoring and testing activities 
  • Determine data, systems, and information needed to develop compliance metrics
  • Perform other related duties as assigned


Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Management, Operations Analysis, Legal Studies, or other related degree
  • Exposure to project management to include establishing and leading project teams; managing timelines/deadlines/resources; ensuring successful project implementation
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret regulatory requirements and case law
  • Knowledge of research methods theories, practices and procedures as demonstrated by successful research and/or education
  • Demonstrated ability to influence, negotiate and persuade
  • Ability to translate, interpret and effectively present findings and conclusions clearly and concisely, both oral and written
  • Proficiency in using PC applications and internet-based technology to conduct research
  • Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills
  • Experience that demonstrates research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced presentation, verbal, and written communication skills advanced skill in identifying and analyzing business requirements and recommending solutions
  • Demonstrated skills in data mapping and building requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex issues and problem resolution including determining root cause, scope, and scale of issues clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Effective organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, work independently and as a team member, and exercise independent judgment in establishing priorities
