What you can expect from this position:

Reporting to the Director, Corporate Risk, you will play a key role in managing insurance risk for GTAA. This includes conducting risk assessments, implementing loss control strategies, managing insurance programs, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. You will work closely with internal stakeholders, insurance brokers, and external partners to protect GTAA’s assets and operations.

As a Senior Representative, Corporate Risk (Insurance Services), you will:

  • Develop and implement insurance risk management strategies to minimize exposure and protect GTAA assets.
  • Conduct loss control inspections of GTAA facilities and maintain inspection records.
  • Support preparation of underwriting submissions for insurance policy renewals and manage policy documentation.
  • Review and approve Certificates of Insurance for contracts, permits, leases, and air carrier applications.
  • Monitor and report on Total Insurable Value for GTAA facilities, including maximum foreseeable loss studies.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and external partners to provide specialist advice on insurance risk and corrective actions.
  • Review construction and major maintenance plans to ensure compliance with insurance and loss control standards.
  • Collaborate with insurance brokers, adjusters, and risk engineers to manage claims and loss control initiatives.
  • Develop and deliver educational materials and presentations on insurance risk management to internal teams.

This unionized position is classified at the Band 8 level, with an hourly wage of $51.51, based on a 37.5- hour work week. As part of the recruitment process, you will be required to complete a test.

This is the role for you, if you have:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience with Loss Control, Adjusting or Insurance Claims Management.
  • Completed or working towards Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation and/or Canadian Risk Management (CRM) designation.
  • Ability to obtain a “D/A” class AVOP permit.
  • College or University Degree or appropriate experience.
  • Ability to obtain and retain Transport Security Clearance.

Knowledge and skills you bring, that set you up for success:

  • Knowledge of Insurance Risk Management, Loss Control and Claims principles along with industry best practices.
  • Knowledge of Construction and airport operations (aerodrome).
  • Specific knowledge of relevant acts, regulations, building codes, legislation regarding construction, airport operations, vehicle operation and environmental matters.
  • Awareness of Enterprise Risk Management and Business Continuity Management.
  • Knowledge of best practices or ISO Management System.
  • Computer skills and knowledge.
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments, inspections and investigations.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations, attend related meetings/debriefings, deploy required resources and provide direction.
  • Ability to build presentations.
  • Strong negotiating skills.
  • Strong writing skills.
