As a Card Risk Acquisitions Strategy Associate, you will be responsible for optimizing credit strategy within the Underwriting team with a focus on Judgmental Lending Routing and Ability to Pay strategies.  You will influence all aspects of strategy including design, implementation and monitoring while working closely with business partners. This role requires strong analytical skills, collaboration, and attention to detail to effectively deliver on behalf of the team and the business. 

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Develop a strong understanding and lead strategic initiatives related to Judgmental Lending and Ability to Pay strategies
  • Partner with Operations, Technology, and Risk leadership to ensure all priorities are aligned to maximize bottom line impact and deliver a great customer experience
  • Utilize SAS, Python and SQL to complete analytical requirements
  • Create thoughtful analytics to address business issues and be able to independently generate forward-looking solutions
  • Develop and present materials for Executive Leadership across the Risk, Policy and external partner organizations 
  • Acquire a strong understanding of operational processes and manual underwriting
  • Develop strong relationships with Lending Operations leadership and represent the Risk team in various meetings and ad hoc projects
  • Assure regulatory and policy compliance through a system of effective controls

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • 2+ years of risk management or financial services experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree with preferred concentrations in Math, Finance, Statistics, Economics
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Data mining skills, specifically: SAS, SQL, Python, Excel, Microsoft Office, and database software applications
  • Flexible and able to handle multiple tasks and a changing environment
  • Independent decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated experience in applying analytics to solve business problems efficiently and pragmatically through structured problem-solving approaches

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills if applicable(optional):

  • Prior financial services experience in credit card preferred
  • MS or MBA considered
