Legal & Compliance Counsel

We’re looking for a Legal and Compliance Counsel to provide expert legal and compliance advice, ensuring we maintain the highest standards and support our unique position as Australia’s leading pet insurance underwriting management agency.

What You’ll Do:

• Provide commercially viable and compliant legal advice to support business operations.
• Advise on legal and compliance issues related to customers, suppliers, competitors, and regulators – including financial services, privacy and other relevant requirements.
• Assist in drafting, reviewing, and approving business documentation, including Product Disclosure Statements, Target Market Determinations, and promotional materials.
• Monitor and report on changes in the legal and regulatory environment.
• Implement changes to reflect evolving legislation, policy, or industry standards.
• Draft correspondence and updates to regulators, respond to regulator enquiries, and coordinate documentation for regulatory submissions.
• Act in accordance with PetSure’s Compliance framework, including policy development, maintenance, and audits.
• Contribute to business projects as the legal and compliance representative.
• Conduct legal research and produce high-quality, accurate, and timely work.

What You’ll Bring:

• Bachelor of Law degree.
• At least 2 years of legal advisory experience in a regulated industry.
• Experience in the general insurance industry.
• Experience liaising with regulatory bodies such as ASIC and AFCA.
• Knowledge of the Australian regulatory environment.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage competing deadlines and prioritise matters based on business needs.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to confidently interact with all levels internally.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and collaborate with teams for better business outcomes.
