About the Opportunity
The role of food safety and compliance specialist (UK based) is to coordinate, monitor, distribute and improve the food safety and due diligence documentation within EMEA.
The role is responsible for managing the compliance process and flagging potential compliance risks and issues and keeping track of on the level of implementation and follow up. This role requires good communication with other departments.
Active participation in EMEA compliance meetings and projects
Scope: growers and coolers / packhouses globally including procurement growers.
Responsibilities
- Collation and management of all due diligence and compliance requirements and related information to ensure all certification is maintained
- Timely and correct communication and elevation of issues on compliance gaps related to all associated stakeholders
- Day to day input and management of information into supplier approval portals including certification and test results information e.g. Telus Agriculture, Safety Chain and Foods Connected
- Assistance with the management of additional compliance portals as required within the DEMEA region
- Completion of approval trackers and approval matrixes based on DEMEA wide processes
- Supporting and assisting with other key technical and compliance support as and when required
- Managing and maintaining data related to the subject area and providing this information when required by the wider DEMEA function
- Responding and completing customer requests for information
- Management of processes related to scheme compliance e.g. Red Tractor Licensing and Leaf Claims and Labelling
- Attendance of relevant events when required to assist with information gathering and knowledge of the overall team
- Direct liaison with certification bodies and local authorities where applicable to gather information related to audits
- Active participation in DEMEA compliance meetings and projects
- Booking in and processing of samples for product testing programme and associated tasks including tracker maintenance
- Creation of Expense Purchase Orders associated with product testing or compliance requests
- Providing cover during absence and assistance at all other times
- Any other tasks requested by management which are considered to be within the scope of the responsibility of the post holder.
Candidate Profile
Education, Knowledge and Experience required for the role
Academic Degree:
- BSc degree in agriculture or related area (preferred)
Professional experience:
- Evidence of 3 years experience working in a similar role within the fresh produce industry
- Ability to relate to key client personnel in a profesional and credible fashion
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to identify needs and issues and recommend suitable pragmatic courses of action and solutions, adopting a risk aware approach.
- Good time management and organisational skills with the ability to handle a number of tasks at once and meeting deadlines as required
