Position Overview:

The Director of Global Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental Integrity and Compliance will be responsible for leading global QHSE programs and business initiatives across the company.  In this role, the successful candidate will be directly responsible for developing and leading a team as well as partnering with business unit leaders and cross-functional team members to drive best-in-class QHSE performance. This position will report to the Senior Vice President, Global QHSE.


Responsibilities: 

  Team Performance 

  • Lead a global team that develops frameworks for NovaSource site O&M and workplace safety programs and QHSE standards, training programs, tools, processes, and procedures.
  • Define team goals, provide guidance, support, and professional development opportunities, and ensure performance targets are met.

  Metrics Management

  • Develop, implement, and manage Leading Indicators and Key Performance Indicators for the proactive prevention of safety incidents and tracking safety data trends for continuous improvement of the safety program. 
  • Identify and build action plans and strategies through analytics.  
  • Ownership of Incident Management System and digital tools to enable reporting and QHSE data capture. 

  QHSE Management System and Standards

  • Develop and implement corporate management system framework for organization.
  • Develop, implement and monitor continuous improvement of QHSE standards, policy and procedures and further develop internal management system utilization to drive compliance.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date records and documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure alignment with global regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Serve as liaison with regulatory agencies, industry groups, and community organizations.
  • Oversee and coordinate QHSE audit management and execution programs to effectively identify related risks and establish mitigation strategies and actions to support business.
  • Develop QHSE requirements and processes for contractor management.

  Project Management

  • Lead cross-functional teams to design and implement new QHSE processes and tools.
  • Effectively plan, execute, and govern QHSE projects.

  Training and Development

  • Responsible for QHSE training matrix and facilitating SME’s to support QHSE training development for organization.
  • Develop and deliver training content to enhance knowledge and capabilities of QHSE team.
  • Foster culture of safety and environmental stewardship with global employee population through training on a variety of topics related to QHSE awareness.

Minimum Requirements

  • 8-10 years of QHSE compliance experience.
  • Minimum 5 years in a governance, project management role, with experience in leading cross-functional projects.
  • Experience with construction and plant operations preferred.


The ideal candidate possesses the following experience, skills, and abilities: 

  • A proven operational business leader responsible for HSE standards, KPIs, reporting, and training.
  • In-depth understanding of safety programs including OSHA compliance, understands how to operate with them, and knows why they are in place.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to collaborate with and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify risks and develop effective mitigation strategies within the business or Company.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and executing global-scale QHSE programs and initiatives that align with business objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and lead high performing global teams and adapt strategies to local regulations and cultural differences.
  • Resilient behavior to lead strategically and tactically during crisis situations, maintain composure and effectiveness under pressure.
  • Ability to travel periodically to site locations and operating facilities.
  • Experience leading digital transformation projects and IMS system implementation.
