We're a tech-driven legal services firm offering ethical and efficient Finance, Adjudication, Insurance, and Representation services to UK consumer claimants. With a core focus on housing disrepair and tenancy deposit claims, we are rapidly expanding into new service areas.
We are seeking a proactive, experienced Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP) to lead and enhance the firm’s compliance function. This critical leadership role ensures that all operations meet regulatory requirements, particularly those of the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA), while embedding a strong culture of ethical and compliant practice throughout the organization.
Foster a firm-wide culture of ethical and compliant practice.
Act as a trusted advisor, providing guidance to all levels of staff.
Design and lead internal compliance awareness and training programs.
Collaborate with department leads to create and enforce policies aligned with SRA Standards and Regulations.
Develop systems to document compliance activities such as risk assessments and internal investigations.
Manage complaints procedures, ensuring timely resolution and continuous improvement.
Design and maintain a robust compliance monitoring system.
Conduct regular audits and assessments of compliance controls.
Provide timely, accurate reports to senior leadership and regulatory bodies.
Stay up to date with evolving regulatory and legal standards.
Continuously adapt the firm’s policies to align with new risks or regulations.
Brief teams on changes and support implementation of new compliance measures.
Lead risk identification, assessment, and mitigation activities.
Ensure proper handling and documentation of client complaints in accordance with SRA protocols.
Regularly review and update risk-related procedures.
Act as the main point of contact for the SRA and other regulatory bodies.
Facilitate compliance workshops, briefings, and internal communications.
Promote feedback loops to enhance and streamline compliance practices.
UK-qualified solicitor or legal executive with strong experience in a regulated legal environment (COLP experience preferred).
Deep understanding of SRA Standards and Regulations.
Familiarity of AML, GDPR, and data protection laws.
Track record of success in risk management, complaints handling, and compliance audits.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks independently while collaborating effectively across teams.
