Job Overview

The Compliance Communications Manager is responsible for assisting in the implementation and ongoing management of the Shriners Hospitals for Children (SHC) Corporate Compliance Program. Works directly with corporate personnel to develop and implement a Compliance Communication Plan. Also responsible for general compliance responsibilities and, in conjunction with other department members, develops and implements compliance policies and procedures, compliance training and programs; investigates and resolves compliance matters; responds to questions or concerns received internally; provides input and representation on key compliance initiatives, meetings, and committees; and participates in risk assessment processes. Stays abreast of industry and compliance trends and recommends and implements changes to internal processes as needed. Serves as the point of contact for assigned facilities and designated subject matter resource for the entire organization.

 

This position may be remote or hybrid. This position requires up to 20% travel.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates compliance with all federal, state, legal and regulatory requirements across the organization.
  • Develops, implements and revises policies and procedures to comply with applicable regulatory and internal/organizational requirements, with special attention to communication related policies.
  • Assists in development, coordination and delivery of compliance-related training to workforce members.
  • Implements, manages and supervises applicable elements of SHC’s compliance work plan, including auditing and monitoring.
  • Conducts compliance investigations as directed.
  • Participates in the planning and performance of the risk assessment process.
  • Reviews current and proposed programs, services, initiatives and partnerships to identify and mitigate compliance risks and opportunities.
  • Collaborates with other functional areas to modify processes to address compliance risks and opportunities and coordinate communication needs and efforts.
  • Responds to, monitors, tracks and reports on compliance-related activities.
  • Serves as point of contact for compliance matters impacting assigned hospitals.
  • Serves as organizational compliance subject matter resource for designated field (i.e., rehabilitation, prosthetics and orthotics, out-patient clinics, telehealth, etc.)
  • Functions as a resource to ensure that compliance matters are appropriately evaluated, investigated, and resolved.
  • Effectively interacts and communicates with all SHC workforce members, patients, families, contractors, and vendors.
  • Develops and implements annual compliance communication plan.
  • Provides administrative support of compliance hotline.
  • Champions development of Compliance Intranet site. Work with colleagues across functions to ensure the compliance site is regularly updated.
  • Spearheads planning of events surrounding Compliance and Ethics Week.
  • Facilitates the development and distribution of compliance communication pieces including, but not limited to emails, videos, newsletters, etc.
  • Assists with the implementation of an electronic board portal to improve board communication.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelors Degree in related field
  • 3+ years healthcare compliance experience

 

Preferred:

  • Hospital experience
  • MBA, JD, MPH or MHA
  • Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP) or certified healthcare compliance (CHC)
    • Required within one year of start date
  • 3+ years experience in Corporate Communications
