IMCO is looking for a highly motivated Associate to join our Compliance team!

As a Compliance Associate reporting to the Senior Manager, Compliance, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the department’s operational model by helping us build and/or strengthen our compliance data analytics and communications programs. We seek a strategic and creative thinker, ideally with a background in a regulated industry, who excels in communication, process design, automation, and data management. More specifically, we seek someone with ingenuity and critical thinking skills who can partner with our data, IT, risk, communications, and legal teams to develop and lead aspects of IMCO’s Policy Management Program as well as our Communications and Training Strategy. This individual will also manage the day-to-day execution of various compliance owned processes such as personal trading and investment diligence, maintaining a process improvement mindset while escalating irregular or high-risk items to senior leaders. An interest in and aptitude for technology and innovation is required as training in SharePoint, Bloomberg, Copilot and Power BI will be provided for the successful candidate (to the extent necessary).

As this is a high-visibility role, meticulous attention to detail and a high degree of professionalism are required.

As a Member of Our Team, You Will be Responsible To:

  • In partnership with the Information Technology team (and other teams as appropriate), manages the creation, development and regular production of a variety of Compliance related reports used to analyze SharePoint data and highlight trends, identifying and escalating items of higher risk to Senior Compliance Team Members.
  • Act as the first point of contact and manage correspondence addressing Compliance policy concerns directly or escalate to Senior Compliance Team Members when appropriate.
  • Partners with senior leaders in Compliance, IT and Learning and Development to create and/or innovate the various courses in the Compliance training program and assist in developing and executing a Compliance Communication and Training Strategy.  
  • Overall responsibility for managing the Compliance intranet page, which may include drafting and posting items of interest and ensuring all information on the site is kept up to date.
  • Approves and directly responds to personal trading requests from Board Members and our clients as required.
  • Educates colleagues on proper Compliance procedures, consistent record keeping and version control – perform regular reconciliation between various Compliance systems and ensure all Compliance information accuracy.
  • In partnership with senior compliance leaders, ensures all IMCO Policies and Guidelines are updated as required and properly stored in IMCO’s policy management program. 

What you need to succeed:

  • A diploma or degree, ideally in Business, Finance, Communications, Information or Data Management, or a related discipline is preferred
  • 3-5 years experience working, ideally in a relevant role within the Canadian Banking, Pensions, Insurance,  or Investment Management field
  • Previous experience dealing with a variety of internal and/or external stakeholders
  • Strong interest and aptitude for learning new technology systems and processes
  • Expertise in using Microsoft Suite with strong skills in Excel and data reporting
  • Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, analytical, and researching skills are essential
  • Proven attention to detail and organization skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to consistently deliver quality outputs in a fast-paced environment, with an ability to work to tight deadlines and the capability to handle multiple projects and ad-hoc requests simultaneously
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with colleagues at all levels and cultivate key partnerships to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders as well as third-party administrators
  • Demonstrated ability to be proactive and take initiative to support the team

Nice-to-haves:

  • Power BI,  SharePoint, or similar knowledge is an asset
  • Experience drafting and managing policies and/or procedures
  • Completed, pursuing or interested in completing the Canadian Securities Course, the Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) designation, and/or CFA is an asset
  • Experience with Bloomberg, Copilot, World Check, or Dow Jones is helpful, but not required
