Summary

The Senior Regulatory Compliance  Manager is principally responsible for definition and management of Kia’s CAFÉ and GHG compliance strategies, and formulating related recommended product actions (powertrain, volume/mix, distribution) necessary to comply. This includes monitoring fuel economy and emissions regulations and related legislation, and Kia compliance with CAFÉ, GHG, and as needed, ZEV regulations, as well as performing related calculations/analysis. This role reports to the National Manager of Long-Range Strategy and works in coordination with Kia North America Product Planning executives.  

Major Responsibilities

1st Priority - 50%

COMPLIANCE STRATEGY DEFINITION, AND MANAGEMENT

Define, recommend, and oversee Kia GHG (incl. Tier 4) and CAFÉ compliance strategies, and as needed, ZEV strategies, as it relates to powertrain recommendations (type, mix%, timing) and distribution (region/state). 

2nd Priority - 20%

LEGISLATION & POLICY

Monitor, track, and interpret CAFÉ, GHG (Tier 4), and ZEV legislation and environmental policy developments. Interpret into Kia product and compliance action requirements, and prepare strategic recommendations to senior management. 

3rd Priority - 20%

REPORTING AND MONITORING

Define and prepare appropriate CAFÉ, GHG (Tier 4) and ZEV compliance status reports and ad hoc reports.

4th Priority - 10%

OVERSIGHT

Oversee and manage a regulatory specialist.

 

Education/Certification

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Advanced degree (MSE, MSC, MBA) preferred
     

Overall Experience

  • 10-12+ years professional experience
  • 10+ years of experience in regulatory compliance related role, engineering, or closely related fields
  • Automotive industry experience and experience with PHEVs, EVs, and fuel cells  
     

Directly Related Experience

  • Professional experience and expertise in automotive regulations/and general regulatory landscape
  • Deep knowledge of GHG, CAFÉ, ZEV rules and sources for legislation/details
  • Professional experience and expertise in green automotive sectors (hybrid, PHEV, FCEV, EV) and EV charging
  • Advanced Excel skills required

Other Requirements:

  • May need to work additional hours outside of normal business hours as required by the job, including weekends or holidays
  • Occasional travel may be required domestically and/or internationally

Ability to distill complex data into concise executive reports
Competency in Excel, Tableau, PowerPoint, Polk (Catalyst), PIN, mTAB, SAP
Knowledge of sourcing of key emissions and fuel economy regulations and laws

Pay Range

$98,043 - $136,296 

Pay will be based on several variables that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to, job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, etc.
