Job Description & Summary

At PwC, our people in audit and assurance focus on providing independent and objective assessments of financial statements, internal controls, and other assurable information enhancing the credibility and reliability of this information with a variety of stakeholders. They evaluate compliance with regulations including assessing governance and risk management processes and related controls.

In sustainability assurance, you will focus on obtaining limited or reasonable assurance about whether sustainability reporting, for selected KPIs or as a whole,is free from material misstatement, whether due to fraud (that can take the form of "greenwashing") or error, and to issue an auditor’s opinion, in order to help organisations and their stakeholders build trust in their sustainability strategy and performance while complying with relevant regulations. Your work will include assessing the existence of of gaps between disclosure and sustainability reporting frameworks, assessing materiality analysis and reporting process, testing data quality and controls.

Using advanced technology, we’re able to focus on establishing the right controls, processes and structures for our clients to ensure that decisions are based on accurate information and assure that information provided to third parties is accurate, complete, and can be trusted. Future reporting won’t just be about financials - it will also be about measures like people insights, intellectual capital, and social and environmental impacts. 

 

Sustainability is at the top of the agenda for many organizations, but many are at different stages in understanding how they should respond. As part of our team, you’ll focus on identifying and prioritizing sustainability issues, setting goals that support alignment and integration of the sustainability vision into overall corporate strategy, and implementing processes, controls, systems, and dashboards to measure progress for consistent and accurate reporting. Our established team includes economists, natural scientists, engineers, finance and accounting professionals – working with some of the world’s leading organizations towards an economy with purpose. 

 

Our Sustainability Reporting & Assurance professionals help organizations effectively manage Sustainability risk and opportunities, while also navigating through increasingly complex regulatory requirements. We’re helping future proof businesses by making them more resilient and sustainable.  

 

What you’ll create and do 

 

As an Associate, you'll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. PwC Professional skills and responsibilities for this management level include but are not limited to: 

  • Qualitative and quantitative research using ESG data 

  • Develop and execute on assurance procedures related to ESG attestation engagements 

  • Evaluation of organizations’ processes & controls to support external reporting 

  • Complex technical accounting and analysis of GAAP impacts related to ESG 

  • Apply analytical skills and specialist knowledge with our world-class client base 

  • Assist in developing appropriate disclosures in accordance with approved ESG reporting standards and framework 

  • Contribute effectively to complex, multi-disciplinary projects – often supporting several projects at a time 

  • Helping our clients improve the way they report and build trust around their sustainability performance  

  • Assisting our clients in tackling climate change issues and opportunities by providing Greenhouse Gas reporting, quantification, and assurance 

  • Support internal and external thought leadership, while building client relationships and providing industry insight on ESG 

  • Providing ESG reporting & assurance services to household names in a diverse range of industries – everyone from big-name broadcasters to multinational banks, telecoms operators and energy companies 

  • Participate in client meetings and assist in preparation of deliverables and reports 

  • Business development activities such as assistance in preparation of budgets and proposals and initiating marketing of services to new and existing clients

What you’ll bring to this role: 

 

  • Enrolled in or completed post-secondary education  

  • An interest in upskilling for a digital world and technology trends, an openness to learning new tools and adapting how you work 

  • A demonstrated commitment to   valuing differences and working alongside diverse people and perspectives 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to articulate new ideas 

  • Highly detail oriented with excellent organizational and analytical skills; an ability to think broadly and to ask questions about data, facts and other information to deliver quality to our clients 

  • Share and collaborate effectively with others, building relationships which are genuine and rooted in trust 

  • Ability to easily adapt and prioritize, demonstrating project management skills to handle changing priorities

  • You’ll be comfortable traveling to cities across Canada (when deemed safe to do so by applicable public health or regulatory authorities and PwC) 

  • This role requires that you are legally entitled to work for PwC in Canada for the intended duration of the offer/contract. 

  • We'd love it even more if you’re bilingual in English and French, however this isn't a requirement.

    PwC BC Region Pay Information 

    The salary for this position is $46,600 - $62,100 - $77,600, plus individuals may be eligible for an annual bonus payment.    

    *Please note that the salary for this position is reflected for our British Columbia region.  Given our national recruiting approach, we recruit (and may hire) in other regions and therefore the salary may differ depending on the work location.   PwC is committed to competitive compensation and sharing the salary in accordance with applicable pay transparency legislation as they arise.
