About the Role:

The second line Compliance function of Everest Insurance is looking for an experienced Conduct Risk specialist to join our UK and European business. Excellent opportunity to join a growing Compliance Function as a compliance specialist providing expertise on UK and EU regulatory requirements relating to Conduct Risk. 

The successful candidate will have experience of managing UK and EU conduct related regulatory requirements, such as regulatory reporting, providing advice and guidance to the business in relation to regulatory expectations and providing challenge as part of product lifecycle reviews.  The role holder will have an opportunity to lead the development of the Conduct Risk framework, policy and supporting structures.

Role & Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

  • Providing challenge and feedback to the 1st line taking account of regulatory expectations, for example in the development of new and existing products, third party delegated arrangements, Conduct MI analysis etc., identifying opportunities to streamline and/or enhance existing processes. 
  • Overseeing and providing challenge on regulatory submissions such as the Eligible Complainant Return, Retail Mediation Activities Return (RMAR) and General Insurance Value Measures Return, etc.
  • Attend the Product Oversight Group providing meaningful challenge to conduct exposed products including fair value considerations. 
  • Ability to proficiently manage and report on complaints in line with regulatory obligations.  
  • Develop and deliver the compliance plan as it relates to second line oversight of conduct risk.
  • Undertake monitoring assurance reviews of first line procedures in accordance with the compliance monitoring plan, escalating any area of concern or non-compliance as appropriate ensuring that remedial action is taken.
  • Collaborate with a variety of business areas and stakeholders with a view to embedding a robust risk and compliance culture including developing and maintaining a holistic compliance training programme.
  • Providing a proactive, professional compliance advisory service to the business as required, identifying and responding to regulatory and legislative change via a proactive regulatory horizon scanning process.
  • Assisting with the interpretation and implementation of new or amended regulation, legislation or codes of conduct with impacted business teams.
  • Represent Everest in relevant industry or similar associations or groups as appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Appropriate professional qualification desirable, e.g. ACOI, ACII or similar.

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of the regulatory framework required for UK and EU Insurance Business.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the regulatory requirements applying to Insurers writing conduct exposed business.
  • Proven compliance experience within insurance, with experience of leading the implementation of conduct regulation such as the Insurance Distribution Directive or FCA Consumer Duty.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workloads appropriately, with strong attention to detail, and show determination and flexibility to deliver to challenging deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels, up to and including Senior Executives, and build effective working relationships across the business.
  • Cross-functional teamwork and collaboration skills are integral to the position.
