Responsibilities of the Position

Contracts

    • Draft, review, negotiate, analyze, and advise internal clients on various agreements associated with conducting business in the Oil Field Services industry.
    • Identify and mitigate legal risks associated with global operations, such as bids/tenders, contract performance, liability, and compliance.
    • Assist in improving efficiency and reduce cycle time and risk exposure.
    • Conduct legal training for internal teams to raise awareness of contractual obligations and legal risks.

Privacy and Compliance

    • Assist in the implementation of the Company’s Global Privacy and Compliance Programs
    • Drive awareness on privacy and compliance issues with the development of training and guidelines 
    • Support the development and maintenance of a strong culture of compliance 

General Duties

    • Collaborate with internal departments including finance, sales, supply chain, and manufacturing 
    • Provide specialized legal advice, analysis, counsel, and transactional support 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and Doctor of Jurisprudence (JD)
  • Current license to practice law in the state of Texas or other US state and membership in good standing with applicable State Bar.
  • At least 7+ years’ experience either serving as in-house counsel and for oil and energy services industry, or a combination of experience servicing at a law firm and as in-house counsel advising oil and energy services industry clients.
  • At least 3 years’ experience advising or representing a complex global organization.

    Top Tier Candidates will also possess one or more of the following:  

    • Experience providing legal counsel on global privacy and compliance issues.
    • Board Certified Legal Specialist in Oil, Gas, and Mineral Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.
    • Ability to tailor advice that is well-calibrated to the most junior and senior levels of the organization.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated teamwork skills.
    • Ability to think strategically with clear accountability, making decisions with speed and accuracy based on the best available information, and communicating priorities clearly and concisely.
    • Have external focus: Understanding areas of law, regulations, risks, marketplace dynamics, industry trends, and the compliance landscape.
    • Ability to manage and adhere to deadlines, with strong attention to detail, higher level thinking skills, strong professional judgment and interpersonal skills, and a positive attitude with enthusiasm.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced environment.
