Job Description:                        

The Risk Governance & Regulatory Analyst is responsible for leading innovation, governance, and management efforts to identify, evaluate, mitigate, and monitor the company's enterprise risks.  The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional skills in analyzing operational, financial, and analytical data that inform organizational decision-making.  The Risk Governance & Regulatory Analyst will be tasked with maintaining a keen awareness of industry trends, devising automated reporting, and forecasting mechanisms, and implementing Enterprise Risk Management practices, policies, and tools to efficiently assess and report enterprise risks.                      

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the planning, administration, and evaluation of examinations, identifying synergies and streamlining results while managing a centralized repository. Assess the organization’s compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry standards, ensuring that exams are conducted effectively and efficiently, and that results utilized to enhance organizational practices.
  • Develop and implement processes to identify, track, and resolve issues that may impact the organization’s operations or compliance, collaborating closely with stakeholders to address issues promptly and prevent recurrence.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of the Model Risk Management (MRM) program, including establishing and maintaining the model inventory, overseeing model development and implementation, conducting comprehensive risk assessments, and ensuring all model validations adhere to relevant regulations and best practices.
  • Support the strategic direction, implementation, and optimization of the corporate Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) tool to drive efficiencies across governance, risk, and compliance functions, fortifying the risk governance framework. Serve as a key liaison for the vendor relationship, ensuring effective partnership and service delivery.
  • Collaborate with management to establish Key Risk Indicator (KRI) thresholds in business units, enabling the identification and mitigation of enterprise risks. Measure, monitor, and report on enterprise risks by analyzing Risk Appetite Statements (RAS) and other metrics. Oversee the implementation of action plans to address moderate and high-level RAS metrics that exceed established thresholds.
  • Support the management and maintenance of the corporate policy and procedure repository, ensuring the inclusion of Board-approved corporate policies, and plans, as well as management procedures. Collaborate with policy owners and senior management to enhance policies and manage review schedules. 
  • Develop risk models through comprehensive analyses to provide crucial support for organizational decision-making, ensuring strategic alignment and informed risk management.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis of industry trends, extracting actionable insights to drive informed strategic decisions. Provide expert recommendations based on trend analysis.
  • Develop automated reporting and forecasting tools to enhance data utilization efficiency.
  • Develop Enterprise Risk Management tools, practices, and policies to analyze and report enterprise risks, and to manage risks according to an enterprise risk management framework.
  • Ensure the organization's risk management policies and strategies comply with applicable regulations, rating agency standards, and strategic imperatives of the organization.
  • Oversee and monitor enterprise risk management activities, actively challenging practices when necessary to enhance effectiveness.
  • Monitor and analyze risks within the company's business units, and report findings to the relevant committee.
  • Provide key inputs into the company’s enterprise risk or other committee that oversees the enterprise risk management process and ensures alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Provide support for Business Continuity Planning activities within the organization.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years serving in Banking Risk Management or related experience.
  • Experience in partnering with or supporting senior level executives or broad business divisions.
  • Governance, Risk, and Compliance system experience.
  • Experience facilitating audits/examinations in the financial services sector, preferably in banking.
  • Risk Management Accreditation preferred.

Key Competencies:

  • Advanced knowledge of GRC tools and the dynamics of the three lines of defense.
  • Advanced knowledge of risk management, governance, and development of risk appetite.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Thorough understanding of methods of systems analysis and the principles, design, and procedural methods used in big data analysis.
  • Thorough understanding of project management and the ability to be comfortable delivering messages across a wide spectrum of individuals having varying degrees of technical understanding,
  • Strong analytical, detail-oriented, self-directed, and independent problem-solving skills.
