Let us tell you a bit about the opportunity

The Risk Partner reports into the Head of Risk (Technology, Cyber and Data). The purpose of the role is to provide ongoing oversight, challenge and insight of the management of technology and data risks, controls and related change programmes.  The role will support delivery of the Risk strategy by defining and implementing the second line operating model to oversee information security risk management.

What will your day look like?

The role will report into the Head of Risk (Technology, Cyber and Data), who will be your line manager and responsible for things like performance review meetings, 1-1s and development conversations.

The role of Risk Partner is really important to us. You will be responsible for:

  • Execute 2nd Line Risk oversight for technology and data risks, covering risk profiles, identification, controls, testing, governance, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with Technology and Data teams to assess Aldermore’s risk profile and enhance risk management maturity.
  • Recommend improvements to technology and data risk processes, controls, and testing for a robust control environment.
  • Provide data risk insights for governance reporting and input into executive and board-level risk reports.
  • Oversee technology and data risks in change programs, addressing project delivery and operational risks.
  • Lead and mentor team members, support risk reviews, and provide cover for the Head of Risk as needed.

What do we expect from you?

  • Technology & Data Risk Expertise: Proven experience in technology and data risk management, internal audit, governance, and control testing, particularly within financial services and across the three lines of defense.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Comfortable with unstructured problem solving, offering an analytical mindset to address new and complex challenges collaboratively.
  • Governance & Control: Strong understanding of good governance practices, control environment design, operation principles, and control testing.
  • Broad Risk Knowledge: Exposure to related risk disciplines (e.g., cyber, change) and familiarity with market best practices in risk management.
  • Effective Communication: Ability to translate technical concepts into clear, understandable language, providing impactful insights at all levels of the organisation.
  • Detail-Oriented & Organised: High accuracy, attention to detail, and effective task prioritisation, with experience in data analytics as a desirable skill.
