Position Summary:
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Regulatory Compliance, the Regulatory Compliance Manager plays a pivotal role in directing and operating Haventree Bank’s Regulatory Compliance Management (“RCM”) framework. The Regulatory Compliance Manager will drive enhancements to Haventree Bank’s policies, procedures and frameworks supporting the Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) program to ensure that the Bank is compliant with all applicable regulatory requirements and industry codes of conduct.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assists in designing, implementing, and maintaining regulatory risk and control assessment methodology, and conducting regulatory risk and control assessments.
- Updates, maintains, and administers Regulatory Compliance Management systems
- Coordinates the review and sign-off by business units on compliance with requirements
- Assists in the timely dissemination of information relating to new or changed regulatory requirements to the business
- Conducts basic regulatory/legal research, and remains current on relevant regulatory developments and industry best practices as they relate to Haventree Bank’s businesses
- Assists in advising the business on the development of policies and systems for identifying and escalating suspected breaches of regulatory requirements
- Reviews business controls to ensure they are sufficient to meet regulatory requirements and identify control improvement opportunities
- Tracks and monitors the completion of action plans to address any issues identified
- Assists with the preparation of the Regulatory Change Management template
- Assists with special projects, or investigations, as required
- Assists in conducting annual reviews including, but not limited to, the RCM self-assessment, and updates compliance-related policies, as required
- Assists with developing and delivering staff training as required on Compliance related requirements
- Works with the business in providing compliance advisory support, and acts as a subject matter expert of controls
- Monitors operationalization of compliance requirements in response to change in rules or interpretation
- Reviews and comments on any new and relevant legislative developments
- Receives reports from other departments and business units on any issues involving Regulatory Compliance control procedures
Qualifications & Experience:
Degrees, Diplomas & Certifications:
- The position requires a university degree in law, business, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Years and Range of Experience Required to Perform the Job:
- The position requires 4-5 years experience in the financial services or retail banking industry is required preferably in a compliance, audit, or internal control function
- Experience in a Federally Regulated Financial Institution strongly preferred
- Strong, experience-based knowledge of Canadian laws, particularly with respect to Trust and Loans Companies or the Bank Act, Financial Consumer Protection Frameworks, and Guidelines from OSFI, FINTRAC, CDIC and the FCAC
- Knowledge and experience with FATCA/CRS reporting will be an asset
- Strong understanding of compliance fundamentals relevant to the deposit-taking and Mortgage products
- Experience in developing, implementing, and enhancing regulatory compliance policies and programs including, but not limited to, risk and control frameworks
- Proven track record of managing successful regulatory compliance projects
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a proven ability to develop and implement solutions to complex issues
- Ability to approach any task with professional skepticism and curiosity
- Experience working with GRC systems such as Resolver, Refinitiv, etc.
