Paralegal - Collections & Compliance Associate

We are looking for a paralegal to join our team here in London as a Collections and Compliance Associate.

The ideal candidate already has their Paralegal license and some experience working with the Landlord and Tenant Board.

This position is a full time permanent, onsite position. 

Priorities change regularly in this position and the Collections and Compliance Associate must be flexible and willing to change roles and responsibilities as required. 

Primary Responsibilities

Rent Collection
  • Post rent payments made in person or electronically to resident’s account ledger
  • Speak with residents about rental arrears
  • Prepare and have reminders regarding arrears delivered
  • Correspond with Managers of Resident Experience (MREs) as required
  • Correspond with Social service agencies as required
Legal Process 
  • Process Tribunal Forms
  • Attend Tribunal hearings
  • File documents with the Landlord and Tenant Board
Compliance of Lease Agreement 
  • Ensure residents are following guidelines outlined in the tenancy agreement
  • Collaborate with MREs, Property Administrators and Community Manager
  • Draft compliance letters 
Resident Relations
  • Attend to resident issues and disputes as they arise 
  • Update property management software with resident information in notes, documents and ledger 
Administration
  • Maintain paper and electronic files
  • Maintain notes for Resident accounts on Propertyware
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications
  • 1+ years of experience working in collections or property management is an asset
  • Paralegal license is required
  • Knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act and Landlord Tenant Board
  • Public speaking skills and experience
  • Computer proficiency and the ability to learn property management software
  • Verbal and written communication skills and the ability to produce accurate documentation
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and to maintain a high level of confidentiality
