ABOUT THE ROLE:
Are you ready to dive into the world of customs compliance and make a significant impact? As an Analyst, you'll ensure the precise execution of daily compliance activities related to customs. You'll be the go-to expert for both internal and external partners, providing timely and accurate support on various compliance activities, including imports/exports, HS Tariff classification, duty drawback activities, duty refunds, post-entry audits, and Free Trade Agreement management. You'll also play a key role in supporting the Customs Manager and be the primary contact for broker support. Join us and be a part of a team that values accuracy, expertise, and collaboration!
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Embrace the dynamic nature of cross-border operations by supporting day-to-day activities, including a flexible work schedule to meet business needs and thrive during peak volume periods
- Stay up-to-date with customs related regulations, laws and industry changes
- Ensure full customs compliance from entry to post audit for air, ground, and ocean freight
- Analyze large data sets and derive insights to drive a continuous improvement mindset to optimize processes
- Create and deliver insightful daily, weekly, and monthly reports, ensuring timely and accurate information to support business decisions
- Manage various Free Trade Agreements to ensure company is improving duty avoidance for all qualifying goods, maintaining current vendor certificate databases annually and maintaining up to date records regularly to reflect current assortments
- Identify and utilize trade agreements and duty reduction programs to conduct timely post-entry audits for drawback opportunities on imports, exports, DIF, valuation, and HS classification
- Own and maintain the HS Tariff classification determinations for full assortment
- Support the Customs Compliance Manager with performing all vital tasks related to month/quarter/year end closures and reporting
- Support projects and initiatives related to customs compliance and optimization
- Oversee audit of brokerage invoices for accuracy, identifying inconsistencies in costs and submit for payment
- Serve as a primary contact for the broker and Statistics Canada reporting
- Support the development, implementation, and documentation of essential processes within your role
WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
- 3-5 years of experience in Customs Compliance
- Solid knowledge of the customs entry and drawback process and HS classification expertise
- CCS designation, reflecting your mastery and passion for excellence in the field
- You excel at prioritizing and performing tasks with precision, ensuring smooth and efficient operations
- Great at expressing yourself clearly and creatively, in writing, conversation, and presentations, conveying complex compliance concepts in a clear and concise manner
- You are tech-savvy and proficient in MS Office, with advanced Excel skills
- You are curious, a go-getter and love tackling problems using your analytical skills to find solutions
- You have an eye for detail and maintain a high level of integrity when handling confidential and sensitive information
- You are adaptable, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and relish in working collaboratively with cross-functional partners to drive shared success
