Job Description & Summary

At PwC, our people in tax services focus on providing advice and guidance to clients on tax planning, compliance, and strategy. These individuals help businesses navigate complex tax regulations and optimise their tax positions.

In tax accounting services at PwC, you will assist businesses in preparing and reviewing tax provisions, tax returns, and financial statements, confirming compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations.

Meaningful work you’ll be a part of 

As an Associate, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers with extensive consulting and industry experience, helping our clients solve their complex business issues from strategy to execution. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

 

  • Use feedback and reflection to develop self-awareness, personal strengths and address development areas

  • Delegate to others to provide stretch opportunities, coaching them to deliver results  

  • Demonstrate critical thinking and the ability to bring order to unstructured problems

  • Use a broad range of tools and techniques to extract insights from current industry or sector trends

  • Review your work and that of others for quality, accuracy and relevance

  • Know how and when to use tools available for a given situation and can explain the reasons for this choice

  • Seek and embrace opportunities which give exposure to different situations, environments and perspectives

  • Use straightforward communication, in a structured way, when influencing and connecting with others

  • Able to read situations and modify behavior to build quality relationships

  • Uphold the firm's code of ethics and business conduct 

  • Collaborating with others independently or within a team environment 

Experiences and skills you’ll use to solve 

  • Public accounting practice experience would be considered an asset

  • An aptitude for Excel, complex calculations and data analysis

  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, Google (Experience with Caseware, Tax Prep, Google, Quickbooks and Sage would be an asset)

  • Takes ownership for own work’s quality, compliance and technical accuracy 

  • Solid accounting skills, including accounting for investments and stock portfolios and understanding of ASPE 

  • Ability to work in a consistently fast-paced environment and to meet tight deadlines 

  • Mature self-starter who possesses the intellectual curiosity to delve beyond the surface of a particular issue; proactive and a self-motivated problem solver

  • Team player and can also work independently and critically think through and resolve issues

  • Clearly communicates efficiently and professionally to internal peers, team members and external clients on a daily basis, via written and oral communications

  • Qualified Canadian CPA or equivalent reciprocal/recognized designation, or commitment to completing the Canadian CPA and eligible to enrol in the CPA Professional Education Program
