Job Summary:

The Financial Governance Manager role is situated within the WMFTS Global Finance Team, a central team responsible for maintaining effective financial processes and governance across the global organisation. The role will focus on continuing to maintain an effective control environment across all WMFTS operating companies, building on existing good practices and enhancing them further. The role is an excellent opportunity to take up a compliance-based role in a thriving commercial environment and to be a part of a proactive and supportive team committed to delivering high standards and making continuous improvements. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing internal control documentation prepared by WMFTS operating companies as part of UK SOX requirements.
  • Work closely with WMFTS operating companies to understand their internal controls and to deliver constructive feedback on process improvement. 
  • Maintaining and documenting Internal Controls for which the WMFTS Global Finance Team is centrally responsible. 
  • Assisting with continuous improvement of Internal Controls maintained within the central function. 
  • Carrying out testing of WMFTS operating companies’ Internal Controls and preparing reports of findings for key stakeholders. 
  • Instrumental to delivering improvements in global financial processes, internal controls and general compliance, identifying and focusing on key process shortfalls.
  • Assisting WMFTS operating companies with internal and external audit-related processes and a key source of expertise to help clear audit actions. 
  • Using knowledge obtained in the role to set consistent global best practices and inform policies for WMFTS operating companies.
  • You will develop and maintain guidance materials for use by the WMFTS global finance community. 
  • You will be a reliable and trusted expert, able to provide expert technical accounting and control-based guidance to multiple WMFTS stakeholders with differing levels of financial expertise and knowledge.
  • You will deliver valuable insights to the Spirax Group Finance Team to help shape future priorities, initiatives and policy. 


Skills/Experience:
  • Professional accountancy qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) 
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP and/or IFRS Accounting Standards.
  • Demonstrates high levels of personal integrity and a strong regard for ethical values at all times. 
  • Experience in an audit/internal controls environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • A self-starter with an ability to work independently as well as being a strong team player.
  • Able to exercise professional judgement to operate and make decisions independently. 
  • Ability to identify a commercial and pragmatic approach to governance and risk.
  • Highly IT literate and experienced in working with financial systems.
