Position Summary
The Director of Governance, Risk & Compliance for North America is responsible for overseeing governance, internal controls, and risk management frameworks across all business units within the North American region of the Portfolio. This role ensures consistent application of corporate governance principles, risk management standards, and internal control procedures in alignment with
CSI/Volaris policies and regulatory requirements.
This role partners with the Portfolio CFO and executive leadership to drive a culture of accountability, safeguard organizational integrity, mitigate risks, and maintain compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
Key Responsibilities
Governance & Internal Controls
Drive the strategic oversight of the Portfolio Business Review and Internal Controls Program, ensuring alignment of engagement scope, procedures, and findings with regional business objectives.
Ensure all entities uphold a robust internal control framework that drives accurate financial reporting, policy compliance, and operational excellence.
Lead stakeholders through process reviews and risk analyses to proactively address control gaps and drive improvements that strengthen compliance and operational resilience.
Manage updates to the Risk and Control Matrix across established entities and partner on creating RCMs for newly acquired businesses.
Perform testing and validation of key financial controls to confirm effectiveness and adherence to Group standards.
Risk Management & Compliance
Support the design and execution of risk management strategies, ensuring timely identification, documentation, and mitigation of key risks.
Monitor compliance with statutory, tax, and internal policy requirements across all North American entities.
Partner with the Portfolio CFO and tax teams to develop and implement transfer pricing and tax optimization strategies.
Ensure strict adherence to internal audit and reporting schedules, coordinating effectively with internal and external auditors.
Leadership & Business Partnership
Partner with the Portfolio CFO and executive leadership to define engagement objectives and develop risk-based internal audit and review programs.
Provide guidance and training to local finance teams to enhance governance practices and strengthen internal control capabilities.
Collaborate with GRC teams in APAC & UK to ensure global alignment of frameworks, methodologies, and reporting standards.
Deliver clear, concise reporting of key findings, risks, and recommendations to executive stakeholders, enabling informed decision-making.
Operational Oversight (North America Entity)
Oversee end-to-end financial operations for the newly incorporated North American portfolio entity, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and General Ledger management.
Safeguard the integrity of financial data and reporting, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and applicable accounting standards.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; CPA, CA, or CIA certification strongly preferred.
10+ years of progressive experience in finance, internal audit, or risk management, ideally within a multi-entity or portfolio-based organization.
Deep knowledge of internal control frameworks (e.g., COSO), governance standards, and financial reporting requirements.
Proven track record in leading risk assessments, audits, and business process optimization initiatives.
Demonstrated capability to manage complex priorities across multiple entities and a geographically diverse region.
