Reporting to the President of Intact Public Entities and serving on the leadership team, you will work closely with our parent company (Intact Financial Corporation) and direct all IT functions at Intact Public Entities to achieve organizational excellence. This is a unique role with exposure to various disciplines and leaders at the parent company on behalf of a subsidiary.  Your deep technical knowledge must be paired with exceptional presentation and organizational skills.

 

What you'll do here:

  • Responsible for the leadership and oversight of the core business applications.
  • Develop and maintain an enterprise-wide strategy for all applications ensuring that relevant systems are optimized and achieve organizational requirements.
  • Direct the information and data integrity of the organization and for all information technology functions.
  • Provide consultation to enterprise-wide senior management, department heads and staff on system changes and developments.
  • Lead the information security and risk functions, including cybersecurity threats and solutions.
  • Provide direction and leadership for architecture, data architecture, data management activities and data governance for the organization.
  • Oversee the implementation and alignment of new software packages, updates to existing packages, and determines effects on existing hardware/software. Plan implementation strategy and timelines and coordinate related activities affecting the implementation.
  • Participate in the development of the annual operating and capital IT budgets for IT purchasing, staffing and technology operations.
  • Oversee strategic and long-term functioning of department activities and bring organization-wide strategic issues, recommendations and solutions to the table.
  • Contribute to a great work environment by providing exemplary leadership and by mentoring our emerging leaders and managers.
  • Manage a large portfolio of projects in a variety of technologies.
  • Hire outstanding talent that can work in high-performing teams.
  • Communicate effectively across the organization.
  • Ensures alignment of IT strategy with business strategy by working closely with the enterprise’s business planning leaders.
  • Build strong interpersonal relationships with peers and other key stakeholders that can help smoothen execution.
  • Lead analysis of technology industry and market trends to determine their potential impact on the organization.
  • Model the organizational Values to customers, clients, staff and other stakeholders.

 

What you bring to the table:

  • Post-secondary degree or any combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • At least 15 years of experience in IT with a minimum of 10 years of experience leading and managing teams.
  • Demonstrated project management abilities and leading teams through transformative change.
  • Property & Casualty Insurance experience considered an asset.
  • Strong skills in critical thinking, decision-making, problem solving, and attention to detail.
  • Proven success in budget management of large projects/portfolios and people/team resources.
  • Can balance the long-term ("big picture") and short-term implications of individual decisions.
  • Can rapidly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies.
  • Effective at driving short-term actions that are consistent with long-term goals.
  • Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and processing environments.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation and negotiation.
  • Ability to communicate advanced technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work and manage in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
