Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Compliance Specialist to join our Canadian team. This role is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the company’s trade compliance program, ensuring adherence to international trade laws, customs regulations, and export control laws. You will work across departments to support compliance training, policy enforcement, and risk mitigation while serving as a subject matter expert on anti-corruption and anti-bribery regulations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and administer compliance policies, procedures, and training programs.
  • Partner with Internal Audit, HR, Finance, Legal, and other teams to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct risk analysis, due diligence reviews, and monitor third-party compliance.
  • Support internal investigations and compliance audits as needed.
  • Stay up to date on changing laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Interface with government agencies, customs authorities, and internal teams to address compliance issues.
  • Oversee compliance with trade programs (C-TPAT, ISA, CARM, FTZ, etc.).
  • Ensure proper product classification, country of origin determination, and export control documentation.
  • Work with sales teams to provide guidance on ethical business practices.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Tax, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: 3-5 years in a compliance role within a global organization.
  • Knowledge:
    • Understanding of anti-bribery, anti-corruption, trade compliance, and customs regulations.
    • Familiarity with Canadian trade laws, ITAR, EAR, OFAC sanctions, and export licensing.
    • Ability to review international shipping documents and classify products correctly.
  • Skills:
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and compliance-related software.
    • Ability to handle confidential matters with discretion.
