Reporting to the Senior Compliance Auditor, and/or Manager/Director, Internal Audit Services, the Compliance Auditor is responsible for assisting to plan, and perform compliance audits for our health service providers and owner/operated care facilities. This includes executing on a compliance monitoring / audit process including planning, delivering, and reporting of results. Works with providers and facilities to facilitate improvements and complete procedures, working with the team to adjust approach as needed. Recommends improvements to existing procedures and identifies risk. Completes reporting of results and helps to carry out financial and operational analysis on data to identify risk, trends, and opportunities. This position falls under the Corporate Governance and Advisory area of the Internal Audit, Enterprise Risk, and Corporate Governance department led by the Chief Assurance and Corporate Governance Officer.

 

This is a Hybrid Remote/In-office position with an option to work three days remote and two days in the office with flexibility.

 

As a Compliance Auditor with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:

  • Execute compliance audits on health service providers and owner/operated facilities.
  • Schedule and coordinate audit tasks and monitors audit progress. Maintain commitments to audit client are met and ensure audit completion in accordance with budget and agreed to timelines.
  • Work with Senior Compliance Auditor to investigate non-compliance with requirements as needed; identify root cause and involve the Manager/Director/Executive Director when required.
  • Assess risk, research best practices, and provide recommendations to improve existing processes. Support and liaise with stakeholders and external providers to plan, execute, and report on results.
  • Prepare audit reports and document findings; help to present and communicate audit results to varying levels of management as needed.  May also support Director/Executive Director in reporting results to the Board.  Develop and recommend appropriate courses of action to address issues and maintain an effective process to follow up on outstanding issues.
  • Contribute to the continual improvement of processes and tools used by the internal audit department.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Commerce.
  • Recent Finance/risk/control/audit/process related experience is an asset or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Applies knowledge of financial analysis and auditing techniques.
  • Uses expertise and knowledge of auditing techniques and advanced capabilities in excel to facilitate efficient audit procedures and reporting.
  • Applies superior persuasion and conflict management skills to achieve support for carrying out procedures and communicating results.
  • Uses strong written communication abilities and organizational skills to prepare comprehensive documentation of procedures performed and related results.
  • Uses strong oral communication skills and interpersonal skills to communicate with and present to a variety of internal and external stakeholders to achieve desired objectives.
  • Experience with contract audit techniques would be an asset.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
